A decision has been made to have the Center change the hours that we service our guests. Starting April 16, we will be open in the afternoons, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm to assist those in need. We will still be open on those days in the mornings for receipt of donations 8:30am to 11:30am.
I will have two shifts of volunteers working; in the morning, they will be sorting clothes and household goods, shelving and bagging food, handling administrative tasks, receiving donations and handling pickups and deliveries with the van. In the afternoon, we’ll help our guests with food, clothing, household goods, furniture and financial needs.
This is a challenging transition, and my volunteers have been very supportive helping me work through this effort. Our new schedule will require more volunteers, particularly in the afternoon shift, so if you are interested in helping out, please contact me. No experience necessary – we offer on the job training!
If you are wondering what the compensation plan is, here’s the sign that hangs in my office:
“Work for the Lord; the pay isn’t much, but the retirement plan is out of this world.”
Special need of the week: one food item we are always short of is boxes of cereal.
