John Walsh Admitted to Candidacy
On April 30, 2017, Msgr. Mike Shugrue celebrated the Rite of Candidacy at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Mount Olive for students studying to become Permanent Deacons for the Diocese of Raleigh. Among the men was our own St. Mary parishioner, John Walsh.
John has successfully completed his first two years of study – of a 5-year course – to become a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church. On a one-weekend-per-month schedule, John has been studying many facets of the Faith. In addition to academics, he will also have practical experience.
John is married to Caryn and has two sons – Cameron and Evan. In addition to being the DRE for St. Mary and a Master Catechist, John is also a member of Council 1074 of the Knights of Columbus and a catechetical leader in the Cape Fear Deanery.
Congratulations to John! Please keep John, his family, and his vocational journey in your prayers.
