Personal hygiene is something most of us take for granted; we have access to the necessities but many of our guests don’t.
Hygiene items are always needed by our guests. We have volunteers that monitor our inventory and place monthly orders to purchase the supplies needed. They pick up the order, consisting of several cartons, and deliver it to the Center.

The stock is shelved in our storeroom. . Among the items we purchase are: bar soap, deodorant, razors, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath tissue, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and feminine products . We spend approximately $1,000 per month for these items The money collected in the ‘needy’ boxes in Church helps fund these purchases.

We have a Hygiene Cabinet that holds a few days of supplies; volunteers refill this cabinet each day until the supply in the storeroom runs out. We often deplete most of the supply before the month is over.
We always welcome donations of any kind or size of hygiene items. We accept donations of other types of items as well: adult diapers, depends, tissues, liquid dish soap, laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies.
For our homeless visitors, we are able to refer them to a group called Vigilant Hope that provides a free shower trailer that parks in four different locations around town each week; in addition to the showers, they often serve food. . A warm shower and clean towels can really boost a person’s morale.
Hygiene is important to one’s well-being and we are thankful to everyone that helps us offer assistance to our guests.
Special Need of the Week: Any hygiene articles, including your travel size hygiene items you’ve accumulated.
