My Dear Friends,
Today Catholic Christians celebrate the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In today’s reading from Isaiah, we read: “Just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down and do not return there till they have watered the earth making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; my word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which it was sent” (Isaiah 55: 10-11). And in the Gospel, Jesus reiterates the same concept when he delivers the parable of the sower sowing seed on different type of soil (Matthew 13: 1-23). The moral of the story is that are to grow and flourish as followers of the Lord.
Now that we are in the middle of summer, many of us are on vacation. God, however, is never on vacation. Therefore, we are called to worship him all through the year. Please take time to come to church during the summer months, just as you do at other times of the year.
Also, please remember that although we always have plenty of visitors during the whole year, in the summer months, we have even more. Please be especially welcoming to those you don’t recognize!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
– Father Bob
