My Dear Friends,

Today, Catholic Christians celebrate the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We also celebrate this as “Respect Life Sunday.”
Here at the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, we show respect for life very concretely in three major ways. First, we serve over 10,000 poor people in our Sr. Isaac Center with food, clothing, bedding, furniture, pots, pans, dishes, bicycles, and furniture. Second, we serve the poor in our St. Mary Health Center. Our Center has two clinics: St. Mary Medical Clinic and St. Mary Dental Clinic. And third, we serve thousands of people in our sister parish – San Francisco de Asís – in many ways, including providing support for Clínica Santa María in Reitoca.

Our annual Blessing of the Animals will be this coming Saturday, October 7th behind the St. Mary Rectory at 9 a.m. Live and stuffed animals are most welcome!

Sincerely yours in Christ,
– Father Bob
