Dear Brothers and Sisters,
With the celebration of Holy Thursday we enter liturgically, the Paschal Triduum. Good Friday will follow, and on Saturday we will gather for the Easter Vigil. This is the sacred time of the Church year celebrating the Eucharist with priesthood, the passion of the Lord and His resurrection.
We are in the second consecutive year to participate in these principal and holy mysteries during the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully we won’t experience this again as many people are able to be vaccinated and normalcy will return. But this year continued concerns regarding the virus necesitate prudent decisions so that the liturgy can be celebrated fruitfully while respecting the safeguarding of health and the common good of the people.
Whatever your plans are for Easter, whether you will be with your family in person or via zoom, skype or on the phone, I wish you all a spiritually rewarding, safe and joyous Easter. May the risen Lord bless you and may Mary, the patroness of our beloved basilica, watch over you.
