My Dear Friends,
Today, Catholic Christians celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. In today’s Gospel reading from St. Matthew (17: 1-9), we hear how Jesus took Peter, James, and John onto a mountain. Suddenly, his face and clothes shone like the sun, and two long-dead Old Testament figures from the Old Testament – Moses and Elijah – appeared with Jesus. Then, a voice came from a cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” With that, the Old Testament figures disappeared, leaving only Jesus with the disciples. The moral of the story is that with Jesus, the Old Testament has been fulfilled; now we only need Jesus.
